“Hi Ned! What are some good Christmas movies to watch?”
Hiya, friend! The water is freezing, so it must be getting to the Christmas season! This is one of my favorite holidays because of all the different movies and shows to watch. Personally, I like to head to the classic holiday television specials. I start off with a little “Frosty the Snowman” to get into the winter spirit before watching Christmas specific movies. Then, I will be sure to watch “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” “A Charlie Brown Christmas” is my all time favorite classic TV holiday special with the Peanuts gang. I enjoy watching all these because they are short classics that never get old.
If you want some classic Christmas movies, the “Santa Clause” series is good to watch. There’s also the “Home Alone” movies, and the recently released “Home Sweet Home Alone” to Disney+ subscribers. You can also watch “Elf” or “The Polar Express,” to name a few others. Another recommendation is “Rise of the Guardians.” This movie does take place during other seasons as well if you want to be reminded of warmer weather.
If you prefer some romantic comedy movies centered around the holidays, “A Golden Christmas” is a series of three movies you can enjoy. Best of all, they have golden retrievers and their puppies! I personally enjoyed “The Spruces & The Pines.” I also recommend “A Christmas in Vermont” for fellow romantic comedy fans.
I am afraid to watch scary movies, but one friend says “Gremlins” is their favorite for the Christmas season. Another friend debates with them that “Scrooged” is better.
In the mood for a Christmas drama? “Angels in the Snow” was a favorite of another narwhal friend. Another recommends “Thomas Kinkade’s Christmas Cottage.” This movie was based on a book, so check out the book if you like the movie (and vice versa).
If you still don’t know what to watch, just search Christmas in your streaming service’s search engine and find one. If you’re watching on TV, check out a few channels with Christmas movies and choose one to watch. If you don’t enjoy it, feel free to change the channel to a different program.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from your favorite Narwhal, Ned! See you next year for some more Ned Talks!
